Chapter 33
The Fallen Angel Lakias
Startled, Idnia looked at the price tag and read the product description.
“Snacks from another world, found in the depths of a dungeon?”
“The price… 5 Akacoin?!”
Five Akacoin for a single chocolate bar… The current exchange rate was 1 Akacoin to 5 Shillings, meaning that one chocolate bar cost 25 Shillings.
In other words, the price was 250,000 won for a single chocolate bar.
It was an insane price, but for Idnia, it was incredibly tempting.
Up until now, she hadn’t missed Earth.
In fact, it was more accurate to say she hadn’t thought about it.
She had been too busy overcoming the waves that life had thrown at her.
Living her second life—earned by narrowly escaping death—kept her occupied.
But now, just a few snacks and cans from Earth stirred something deep inside her.
Tears suddenly welled up.
For some reason, longing flooded over her, and Idnia found herself crying.
“Huh? What are you doing, Idnia?”
Sandy called out to her.
Idnia quickly wiped away her tears and turned around.
‘If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t mind. But you, Sandy… you’ve never been given permission to call me by my name.’
She looked at Sandy, who was excitedly choosing various snacks to buy.
There were no Earth-made products, but other items were still priced quite expensively. Sandy had bought quite a bit, which made it clear how wealthy she was.
‘Wait, am I too poor for a noble family like the Betelgeuses?’
Her stomach growled, and she automatically licked her lips.
Idnia cleared her throat and asked, “Do you know about these items from another world?”
“Ah, those. They’re often found in dungeon depths.
Adventurers find items from another world and keep what they need, but snacks like these—food—they bring to the market to sell.
I’ve tried them… they’re delicious.
But they’re too expensive for regular consumption, only for special occasions.”
“I see. In the game, Earth products weren’t available…
But now that I’ve reincarnated here as Idnia, there’s no reason they shouldn’t have made it here.
Though, it’s way too expensive.
Dungeon depths, you say? Maybe I should just go there myself…”
Idnia listened to Sandy’s explanation and understood.
A desire to explore the dungeon rose inside her.
But then…
“Ah… wow… so many amazing things!
Are these snacks? And what’s this metal can?
How did they print this on a metal surface?”
Mari, staring at the goods, was visibly in awe.
She was fiddling with her student badge, looking longingly at the items. Idnia noticed her hesitation. Mari was clearly tempted but wasn’t sure if she should buy anything because of the high prices.
At that moment, Magram had given everyone 20 Akacoin, and the other students were eagerly using it to buy from the store.
Some were even exchanging their money to get more.
As the students rushed to buy food, Mari sat there, sucking her fingers, watching.
“Are you just watching because you want something?”
“Ah, Idnia-sama… yes… but they’re so expensive… I don’t dare buy anything.
My tuition and support funds are all from the Bishop and people in my hometown… I can’t spend it on things like this.”
“Hmm, I understand. Actually, I want to buy something too. But the prices are just outrageous.”
“Really, Idnia-sama?”
“The Betelgeuse Duchy is in a dire situation, so I also came here with the Bishop’s support funds.
But I do have the Akacoin from Professor Magram, and it’s weighing on me. Maybe I should just exchange it for Shillings now.”
“Oh, I see. Exchanging it for Shillings now and then later converting it back into Akacoin might be more profitable…”
Mari quickly picked up on it and headed toward the exchange counter.
But soon, she stopped.
“Ugh… this exchange rate…”
“The academy really doesn’t make it easy, huh?”
The exchange counter was run by moving suits of armor, holding up the sign with the rates clearly listed.
‘1 Akacoin to buy, 5 Shillings. Selling, 1 Shilling.’
To buy 1 Akacoin, you had to pay 5 Shillings, but if you sold Akacoin, you’d get 1 Shilling for 1 Akacoin. It was a blatant rip-off.
“They’re really scamming us openly. Trying to rob students blind like this.”
“Ah… haha…”
Both Idnia and Mari sighed in disbelief.
“But with this exchange rate, the Akacoin Professor Magram gave us is probably best spent now! It’s at its peak value right now, at 1 Akacoin for 5 Shillings.
With 20 Akacoin, we could buy 100 Shillings worth of goods!”
“…Wait. Calm down, Mari. That’s exactly what people say right before they waste all their money.
Get a grip.”
Idnia had to work hard to stop Mari from making a reckless purchase.
Soon after, the store’s operating hours came to an end.
“Ah, what a shame.”
It was good that she stopped Mari from making a foolish purchase, but still, it was disappointing.
‘I had 20 Akacoin. I should have spent it… At least bought a chocolate bar, it would’ve been good for my mental health.’
Idnia gazed at the moving suits of armor, packing up the stalls.
But just then, a surprising rescue came from an unexpected direction.
“Hey, you two… Idnia and Mari. I’ve got some leftovers. Want to eat?”
Sandy handed over a sweet roll topped with sugar icing and some cookies.
After the students had rushed to buy all the food they could, they were hoarding the leftovers. No one was giving anything away.
Since the store might not open again tomorrow, everyone was too wary of the academy’s strange operation to trust it. They were stockpiling their food.
But Sandy had decided to share some of the things she had hoarded with Idnia and Mari.
‘Seeing how the northerners beat up other students, I guess I should avoid being too feisty.’
Sandy, having witnessed the violent outburst, decided to extend an olive branch with this gesture.
“Ah, thank you.
I’ll gladly accept, Sandy.
I was a bit upset earlier, but let’s make sure we get along from now on.”
Idnia gratefully accepted Sandy’s gesture of reconciliation.
“Ah, thank you.”
Mari couldn’t resist the food placed before her.
She had just lost in the spirit summoning class and had been sulking a bit, but hunger took priority over her discomfort.
‘Now that I think about it, these were the affection-boosting items in the game… and it’s happening in real life, too.
I wasn’t expecting Sandy to be the one to give them, though.’
Idnia smiled as she noticed how the game’s system seemed to be influencing her real life, and with a happy heart, she split the sweet roll, sharing it with Mari.
The next class was a defense magic class, which was also a mandatory course for her major.
The students gathered in the lecture hall where Professor Magram had taught and waited for the professor to arrive.
Just then, a magical circle appeared on the ground, and bloodied wings erupted from the floor.
A massive, rusted winged figure flew out, piercing the magic circle—an angel with four blades embedded in its wings, eyes closed, and endless blood pouring from its eyes.
It was a fallen angel—beautiful yet grotesque.
“Ugh…”
“Succubus, Ifrit, Dragon, and now a fallen angel… Amazing, yet not surprising.”
“Shh, they’ll hear you.”
The students were horrified by the grotesque yet stunning figure of their new professor.
“Aburation, welcome to defense magic class.
Fleshbags.
I am Lakias.
Once a commander of the celestial legions, now a fallen angel trapped in this academy as a tenured professor.
Ah… I can still smell it, even with my eyes closed.
Such sweet flesh…”
Lakias covered his mouth and nose with his hand but still seemed intoxicated by the smell of human students around him.
The students looked on, bewildered.
“What’s wrong with him?”
“How should I know?”
“But… he’s really beautiful. I’ve only heard of angels, but seeing one with my own eyes is… something else.”
Many students were captivated by the grotesque yet beautiful appearance of Lakias.
Despite his terrifying look, his beauty was undeniable.
His bizarre nature drew the attention of the students.
“Alright, I’ll teach you defense magic now.
Let’s start with the basic shield spell.”
Lakias raised a finger.
His white, delicate fingers, like sculpted ivory, vanished into the air…
And appeared above every student’s head.
“Here. Accept it.”
“Mmm…”
Idnia turned her head away, but the other students remained frozen, like frogs before a snake.
Lakias’s finger pierced their eyes and burrowed into their brains.
“Ah…”
“Aaaaah!”
The students screamed.
Normally, a finger piercing through an eye and brain would result in instant death—but Lakias’s finger passed through their bodies like a ghost.
As it penetrated their skulls, light emanated from it, filling the students with knowledge.
“Good. Now you know the shield spell. Ah… but some of you resisted.”
Idnia, Mari, Isolde, Rudolf, and Lorenzo—all students with good grades—resisted Lakias’s teaching.
“I already know the shield spell. We don’t need to learn it that way.”
Rudolf said, unable to hide his displeasure.
“I don’t know the shield spell, but I don’t want to learn it like that.”
Idnia had never learned the shield spell this way either—but she didn’t want to learn it through Lakias’s methods.
“I see. Then…”
Lakias clapped his hands, and smoke exploded, bringing in assistants.
“Oh, no. Is it our turn now?”
The assistants grumbled as they rushed in to teach the students the shield spell.
Those who resisted Lakias’s teaching—like Idnia and Mari—were paired with assistants, who kindly taught them the incantations, how to circulate their magic, and how to form the spell.
“Now, cast the shield spell using the incantation. ‘Bang peh-yo!’”
“Shield!”
Idnia, speaking the incantation in Korean, naturally felt her magic move, and a shining shield appeared in front of her wand.
“Now, let the others try.”
Students who had been taught by the assistants easily cast the shield spell.
But there was one student—Mari—who failed to cast the spell.
While all eyes were on her, most students were focused on Lakias.
Despite the resistance, the weirdness of Lakias had them captivated.
“Now, for the students who couldn’t cast the spell, the assistants will keep teaching. The rest of you, we’ll teach you how to duel.”
Lakias smiled with a seductive grin as he added:
“My lovely fleshbags.”
W. T. F. 😱 That was a horrific way to teach someone. 😂
