The Strongest Daughter-in-law of the Black Lion family

TSDLBLF | Chapter 13

#13

What’s this sound?

The place where the sounds were blossoming was the main gate for receiving guests.

It’s unlikely that the door would break so easily. Who could have broken the main gate of the Jabisi Clan, a powerful family?

Meanwhile, Ayla had a facial expression that indicated someone was coming.

As if such things happened frequently. Unable to contain my curiosity, I reached out to Ayla.

“Chu.”

“Oh, you must be surprised?”

Ayla smiled gently and extended her hand.

“It’s nothing.”

It was too loud of an explosion for it to be nothing. When I looked at Ayla with blurry eyes, she started to move cautiously.

“Since it turned out like this, shall we go and greet them?”

“Chu?”

“It seems like Lady Rachel has arrived.”

Rachel?

I widened my eyes at the sudden name. Ayla, seeing me like that, ignored me with a slight snort.

Ayla took a deep breath and continued speaking.

“If Lord Zakari is in a good mood, it means Lady Rachel lost in the argument with him.”

What’s that?

“Some kind of verbal battle?”

Verbal battle. Is that the reason for the broken main gate? I was stunned by the scale of the colossal marital fight.

Meanwhile, we had arrived at the place with the main gate. There, Zakari was already present.

“Do you still enjoy unauthorized entry?”

“How would I know you’re coming and set up all kinds of magical devices in the main gate?”

“Amazing. You were able to quickly dismantle so many spells. And that too, with brute force. It must be nice not to have to worry about using your brain when you have strength.”

Rachel’s face wrinkled at Zakari’s sarcastic words. The more you think about it, the more unpleasant his words become, even though they seem fine at first glance.

As expected, Rachel, who realized it late, shouted with a flushed face.

“Are you calling me a fool? I told you not to speak like that! And why destroy the bed again? It gives everyone the wrong idea!”

“Wrong idea? I just speak the truth. Of course, I enjoyed that sight as well.”

He snickered with a smiling face, subtly mocking. Although it seemed fine to hear, when you pondered over it, his words made people feel more and more resentful.

So, do you like it or not? Rachel’s lips trembled at the speech of wavering opinions. After a moment, Rachel, now in full gear, rapidly poured out words.

“Th-this mouth that spouts nonsense is more irritating than the raccoons in Ilrangbore, but do you think you can just blabber anything without consequences? Huh?! Today, of all days, you want to get on my nerves, right? If you keep saying it’s a burst mouth, it might actually burst. You beep— and beep— like a kid! Beep—!”

Rachel’s gradient of anger resembled a tempest. The following words were a carnival of various incomprehensible curses.

It was fascinating how she could continuously pour out those words without taking a breath. It was as natural as a radio broadcasting when you turn it on.

Whoa. What just happened?

It was a speed you couldn’t keep up with unless you concentrated. As Rachel’s profanity attack swiftly approached, my ears began to tingle, but Ayla gently enveloped my ears.

“Please don’t listen to such words, Lady Chichi.”

I’ve already heard everything, Ayla. If you were going to stop it, you should have done it earlier.

I watched the two of them with my ears twitching. The more Rachel ranted, the more Zakari, like a sly fox, laughed slowly, scratching the inside of her mind.

“Seeing your strong voice, it seems like you’re healthy. This time, I thought you were unwell since you were quite late.”

“It sounds like you wished I was unwell!”

“The habit of only hearing what you want to hear seems to persist. You still seem girlish even at this age.”

“You, you! Are you saying I’m immature? You arrogant…!”

Rachel raised her voice as if preparing for a second round. And the more she did, the more my expression couldn’t help but become subtle.

“But isn’t that, in a different sense, a sign that you’ve been waiting all along?”

It seemed like she wished for pain on the surface, but if you dissected it, she might have been worried that it didn’t come as straightforwardly as usual.

Of course, Rachel didn’t seem to understand that.

“What’s this?”

It seemed strange to call them a divorced couple. They seemed too sincere in rushing toward each other. Don’t normal divorced couples dislike the sight of each other?

The most puzzling was Zakari. It was as if he deliberately threw words to provoke Rachel and start a fight. And Rachel willingly plunged into all the provocations.

At that moment, Ayla, who had been observing the two, said with a satisfied smile, “You seem to get along really well.”

…Where?

I stared at Ayla sharply. Ayla murmured vaguely with a face reminiscent of a distant past.

“You used to be so hot that it felt scorching… Well, it’s a shame things have come to this.”

I don’t know how it came to this, but Ayla shook her head regretfully.

“Things might get heated if it continues like this…”

On the verge of disbelief, I opened my mouth. Just as I did, the expressionless woman next to Rachel spoke up.

“Miss Rachel, there’s a ferret over there.”

Surprisingly, that statement silenced Rachel like a snuffed-out candle.

“ferret?”

“Yes, over there.”

The woman pointed at me, diverting Rachel’s attention in a different direction. Consequently, Zakari’s gaze shifted towards me.

“Now that I think about it, did you come because you were curious about that ferret?”

“Then maybe you came because you wanted to see it.”

At Rachel’s somewhat quiet remark, Zakari’s lips, which had been smiling all along, dropped lower than before. It was a very subtle movement. It seemed even more uncomfortable than when Rachel scolded him.

Unaware of this, Rachel, who had stopped charging at Zakari like an angry bull, approached me with measured steps. I flinched and stepped back.

“Chi-Chi.”

Ah, Ayla.

But before I could request rescue from Ayla, Rachel grabbed me first. In an instant, my view was filled with Rachel. She looked at me with sparkling eyes as if observing a strange animal.

Her shimmering silver hair became increasingly tinged with black towards the ends. Her black eyes, like the night, appeared as smooth as obsidian.

In a moment of clarity, different from her previous furious state, my guard was momentarily relaxed under her clear gaze.

“Oh my, you really are small and insignificant, aren’t you?”

Small and insignificant? The term was so trivial that my head began to spin. Soon, it seemed like every small and insignificant thing in the world would become my nickname.

Before long, I felt dizzy to the point where my stomach churned. Rachel abruptly turned me around and started searching thoroughly. It felt similar to what Zerakiel’s mom would do out of concern for me.

Her fingertips twirled like a ballerina for what felt like an eternity. After spinning me around, Rachel handed me back to Ayla and cheerfully murmured.

“Oh, a Ferret beast, huh?”

“Yes. Lady Chichi is a white ferret beast.”

Ayla carefully took me back as I swayed in the chaotic world, unable to control my disheveled head.

“Does Ricky really raise this ferret?”

“Yes, if you go to the bedroom, you’ll believe it. There are plenty of items for Chichi in the bedroom.”

“Oh my, the neat freak gave up her own bedroom?”

Rachel blinked as if she couldn’t believe it. Her gaze towards me was even more sparkling than before.

I found it overwhelming and quietly nestled into Ayla’s embrace.

‘Oh. I feel like I’m going to vomit.’
