SPECIAL CHAPTER 12
Part 134
Adrian’s words of encouragement from before, telling me that whatever she was going to do would be right, saved her from her worries this time too. Let’s think hard and then choose what we think is right. Instead of turning our eyes away from responsibility for that choice, let’s believe in our choice. She didn’t know how far my rightness would go, but right now she couldn’t tell her to tie up that woman and drag her away.
“Knight, please take this woman and her brother to Midok with Aachen. However, we are accompanying them as witnesses, not as criminals. We will not allow any oppression until His Majesty the King’s decision.”
Her discretion ended here. If Aachen’s iron trafficking were found to be simple embezzlement of the treasury, he would probably spend the rest of his life in prison, but Philiana’s brother would not be punished. Her wealth, which Philia has accumulated over the years, can also be guaranteed. It will be up to His Majesty the King to decide, but she was sure he would understand what she meant by sending him as a reference. Philia bowed her head deeply to me. Her eyes were red, but like her, she didn’t shed any tears.
“That night, I was struggling with my narrow mind. It was just a city meeting, so I hope you relax.”
She screamed, and she screamed as much as she could, but it was Philia who had to bow her head even though she was covered in water, so she doesn’t have any special feelings. She couldn’t say that she and Philia are on good terms, no matter what, but since she fell into the water once in a while, it’s safe to say that this is the end of their relationship. She gave her a nod. Philia bowed her head once again and turned around. Viscount Blancha was looking at Philia anxiously with her gag on her face, her face distorted by her bunch, and she was bushy, not even giving him a glance. Instead, she bowed her head before the Viscountess.
“Madam, there is no excuse. She will be punished when she comes back.”
Viscountess Blanca looked at Philia for a moment with her watery eyes, then turned her head away without saying a word. Facing the Viscountess’s absence, Philia quietly walked out of her drawing room. What happens within her jurisdiction cannot be interfered with. She didn’t know what the Viscountess’s tears mean, but she guessed the two of them will come to a conclusion about their matter. So now, let’s deal with this crazy guy who is still staring at Filia’s back without coming to his senses. At her glance, Franz took the gag out of the Viscount’s mouth.
“Viscount Blancha, you embezzled the kingdom’s taxes and concealed the profits from the iron ore mine. Do you admit it?”
Viscount Blancha looked around her, but she eventually nodded as she saw that everyone around her, including the Viscountess, was looking at her with cold eyes.
“Negligent management of iron ore, which can lead to corruption, is a crime, and will be taken to Midoc to be tried in front of His Majesty the King. Drivers, arrest this criminal.”
“But…”
“It’s noisy, so put a gag on it and drag it away.”
Viscount Blancha, whose mouth was stuck again, made an incomprehensible sound and was dragged away by the knight. She was a little worried that there would be a lot of the author’s knights and soldiers outside, but our Bigor Knights were holding out and they said they would win even if they fought against the entire eastern region. She spoke as kindly as possible to the Viscountess, who was looking at her and her husband, who was being dragged away, with a bewildered look on their faces.
“Madam, did you know about the Viscount’s crimes?”
“No! This is my first time hearing this!”
“There will be an investigator from the royal family. Maybe your wife will have to go to Midoc too. But don’t worry, you won’t be punished if you aren’t involved.”
“Well, then, what happens to that family? Still, I am the head of the family, and the children are still young…”
“The title of Viscount will probably be passed to a Lady or a Lady. The lady can run the estate on his behalf until the new Viscount grows up. The fines will be huge and the Viscount will be imprisoned for a long time, but his wife and children will. There won’t be another year.”
It was only after hearing my answer that my heart ached as I looked at the relieved face of the Viscountess, who took a long breath. The husband, who openly cheated on his mistress, has committed a crime that will ruin the family. What is the crime against the wife and children? While the weak-hearted Nellia sat next to the Viscountess and kindly informed her of the proceedings, suggesting that she should proceed with the divorce before her trial began, the crowded drawing-room was cleared out. After taking another look at the ledgers she was sending along as evidence, she handed them all over to Nelia and Bourbon.
“There is enough evidence, so go back to Midoc and get rid of as much as you can. You will leave tomorrow with the criminals.”
“Isn’t the manager going with us?”
“I heard that iron was smuggled through the eastern border. I think we should check there and also meet the merchant who bought the iron from the Kingdom of Sorrento.”
‘This is just what I’m saying, actually, I’m going on a date with Adrian for a while, and Adrian takes care of the back hole of the border, but what power do I have to tell a foreign merchant to come and go? It’s just a plain, but I can’t say that, right?’
Nellia nodded her head with a serious look on her face, whether she knew what she was thinking or not.
“As expected, our manager! While you’re here, you’re also going to uncover military payment corruption, right? Can’t I come along and help you? I want to learn from your side!”
Well, it’s not like that, it’s just a date… Cough.
As she was clearing my throat, Adrian stretched out his long arms and hugged her waist. He lifted her up and made her sit on his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder and looking at Nellia intently. Nellia, with her eyes sparkling, caught Adrian’s gaze and bowed her head flirtatiously.
“No. I will finish the work you asked me to do in the capital.”
Why are you harassing my pretty aide? She turned her head to look at Adrian and tried to scold her, but she was smiling sweetly with flowers on her face. Their aides also need time to grow on their own. Hmm.
“Yes, please. I will only trust Nelia.”
“Yes, Director, I will clean up the mess and push through the trial without fail! Please leave it to me!”
“I’m sure Nelia will do well.”
“Kyahak!”
Nelia and Bourbon left Viscounty with the enemy’s convoy leading the way. The Viscountess’s private soldiers, who were worried, were dealt with neatly by the Viscountess. Viscount Blancha, who had already lost all trust in the gods, was put in a carriage like Aachen and taken to Midoc. Finally, Viscount Blancha’s embezzlement case came to an end.
* * *
Everyone was busy going about their business, and she tried to get off Adrian’s lap to go back to the inn. It was so comfortable that she didn’t even realize she was sitting on his lap. When she turned around, Adrian was looking at her with a happy smile on his face. She patted Adrian’s cheek, who had come all the way here and made a wonderful folding screen, and he kissed her hand and said,
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen you working.”
“I see. This is the first time since you were in the military, right??”
“Yeah, it’s still cool.”
He complimented her and smiled so beautifully that I smiled back and almost forgot where she was. She came to her senses and tried to jump off Adrian’s lap, but Adrian got up while holding her.
“Would you like to go back to your dorm?”
When she suddenly nodded her head, he smiles and strides away. This guy was at it again. He said he would be walking on the ground for several days.
“Ah, I can walk.”
“I know.”
‘If you know, please take me down!’
She had just tied up the owner of this castle in a very dignified manner and sent him away, and she asked if it would be okay for all of the castle’s occupants to come out and look at her with her face turning red while being held in her husband’s arms. As she was getting upset, Adrian came to her with a bright smile on his face. He craned his head to kiss me on the cheek and held her as calmly as possible with a dignified face. As they sat down in the carriage, Adrian asked with a smile on his face.
“Are you now going to uncover military supply corruption on the Eastern Front, Inspector General?”
“Hmm… Now that we know that Cheol has gone abroad, we need to investigate and inform the external agency…”
Adrian was listening to me hesitantly, nodding his head with a playful expression on his face as if he were her subordinate.
“And, well, there must be a corrupt executive who took money and helped with smuggling, so we need to catch that person too.”
“Too?”
“I couldn’t even go on my honeymoon, but since I’m so far away, it would be nice to look around a bit. This is what you wanted to hear, right??”
When she spoke softly, Adrian laughed haha. His long fingers wrap around her hand and I kiss his side.
“I want to go on a proper honeymoon, not just a little one.”
When he felt Adrian’s breath on the back of his hand, the temperature in the carriage suddenly rose.
“B-but I’m on a business trip. I have to go back and report and finish the trial.”
As she spoke, fanning her hand with the hand that was not being held, Adrian let go of her hand and took out a white piece of paper that he had kept in his arms. These were two sheets of high-quality paper that looked like something only the royal family would use. When she opened it and thought about what this was, she realized that it was used by the royal family. What is this? She never applied for leave? King Remina’s signature was stuck on Adrian and her vacation note. Still, she received permission from the King. As she was reading the paper, thinking that it was fortunate that her husband had not escaped all the time, she rubbed her eyes at the vacation period section. She saw something wrong.
She rubbed it and watched it again, but it was still strange. When you think of a vacation period, isn’t it usually a few days or a few weeks? It just says ‘summer’. What is this? It’s not just summer vacation, but if your company tells you not to come to work for an entire season, isn’t that a cut?
“Ah, isn’t this a strange vacation period?”
“I thought so too, so I remonstrated once more, but His Majesty said that one season is the limit.”
Adrian answered with a very regretful expression. Everything is good with my husband, but he sometimes has trouble communicating. She looked at him in bewilderment and he smiled brightly. Someone said that Duke Bigor was a wolf. He seems like such a fox-like man, so Gabun’s makeup needs to be changed to a fox, and when he gets back, he and Ethan are going to change their tops right away. Wait, if I say I like chicks, Adrian will become Bigor’s crazy chick. Ah, that’s just embarrassing.
When the carriage arrived at the inn, Adrian picked me up and carried me into the room. Why did the inn room she left earlier become like this again in that short period of time? She was sure she went there with all the drivers, but who moved that bed? Can a bed that size fit in a minute?
“Ah, if you don’t like the inn, you shouldn’t have told me.”
“I don’t care where I go as long as Damian is there.”
It doesn’t matter, but what are those beds, tables, sofas and flowers? She sighed and lowered herself onto the sofa. Who said it would be easier to give up, but it was convenient and good. As she was taking a break, lunch was served on a huge table. A neat server who had clearly caught the wine from somewhere appeared and skillfully filled their wine glasses. The food was so excellent that it couldn’t even be compared to what I had eaten until this morning. As she was chewing on the meat Adrian had cut for her, the man who had everything in the world sitting across from me was smiling brightly.
As she was looking at the sparkling Adrian, my thoughts began to slowly come to mind. It’s okay if the vacation is long, but it’s a study center, so why should she cut it off just because she took a long vacation? At this point, she was heading back after enjoying the summer sunshine in the East and South! She got a map of the Southeast and spent the afternoon making travel plans with Adrian. Adrian said that he had experienced all sorts of borders during his time as a commander of the National Guard, and he told us about them. A little further south, he said, there was a city famous for its summer festivals, and further down there was a huge lake. It is a lake with a white sandy beach. The southern region next to the lake is also famous for its seafood dishes. Okay, she would go and try them all. He made a plan and decided to leave for Malta, a military city on the Eastern Front, the next day. Since George left early, he must have already caught that corrupt executive, right? She should go and finish my work quickly and have fun.
