Reasons to Protect the Witch's Son

RPWS Chapter 29.2

Elaine and Ash approached the knights while avoiding the attacks of the rampaging monster. The knights, who were barely able to stand at this point and on the verge of collapsing, spotted the two and shouted with joy.

“Your Grace, Dame Elaine!”

In particular, relief flashed across their faces at the mere fact that Ash had arrived.

“What happened?”

When Ash asked this question, the most senior knight reported what had happened, from discovering Laikios, to the current events. As soon as he had finished speaking, another knight continued the report.

“The Lamia on the villa side have been completely subjugated. Along the way, we found some survivors. This place is dangerous and the survivors are in no condition to move, so we decided to take refuge in the villa.”

“Okay, good job.”

Ash responded briefly and looked straight ahead. What came into view was the riding center that had been ruined by the Laikios.

The wounds that the knights had inflicted on the monster were already completely healed before they knew it. Regenerative monsters usually had a core. In order to truly defeat the monster, the core had to be destroyed.

The problem was, they had no idea where the core was located in its body.

There was only one thing to do.

“Dame Elaine.”

Ash stepped forward with his sword and opened his mouth.

“We have to cut down the entire body, section by section in order to find the core. I will take care of the top section, you take care of the bottom.”

“All right.”

He turned to see her nodding. Laikios twisted its heavy body once again. Using that as their signal, the two kicked off the ground and climbed onto Laikios’ body. As soon as they got on, Ash ran upwards and Elaine ran downward. Elaine immediately started attacking him from the tail. The tip of her sword was rough as she swung it.

Although she had answered casually earlier, she was gritting her teeth inside.

‘I thought it would be the end if we just dealt with the Lamia, but then something like this had to pop up out of nowhere…”

She knew Ash was strong, but this was different. What if something went wrong while fighting such a dangerous opponent? But contrary to her concerns, Ash did not seem at all worried.

In fact, it was not an easy feat to be able to climb the Laikios because he was constantly shaking his whole body. Nevertheless, he ran over the scales of the rampaging creature without hesitation, his sword covered in purple mana. Every time he swung the sword, a deep wound was opened on the monster’s body.

Each swing he took was meant to hit as long and as deep as possible. Extremely concentrated mana was gathered at the tip of his sword, shooting out like a bow. It was a truly terrifying skill.

As soon as the two joined, the direction of the battle changed for the better. There was victory in sight of the battle that had previously seemed impossible to win.

‘I can’t believe they pushed it to its limits, when even as a group we couldn’t do anything…’

‘There truly are no others like him… But not only His Grace, even Dame Elaine…’

Before they knew it, Laikios was bleeding all over its body. Although its wounds were constantly healing, new wounds continued to be inflicted. Eventually Laikios was put on the defensive. It was then that he screamed into the sky.

Kyaaa!

As if in response to the call, cries came back from all around. Soon, one, two, and then a great number of Lamias began to pour into the area from all directions. They had obviously taken down most of them in the forest, so where was this large number coming from?

It seemed that they were all obeying Laikios. If you thought about it though, it was only natural. Laikios was the king of all snakes. Therefore, it was possible to command the snake attributed Lamia as well.

When the situation had become unfavorable, he called in reinforcements.

Soon a swarm of Lamia surrounded the knights below, quickly closing the distance. The knights were now almost all out of mana. In addition, they had suffered serious injuries, so it seemed daunting to fight against so many enemies.

Ash saw this and ordered Elaine.

“Leave the rest to me and help the knights.”

After a moment, she nodded. As she headed down to follow his instructions, she replied.

“Be careful.”

“There’s no need to worry.”

Yes, it would be useless to worry. She had just seen him overpowering Laikios. Still, she couldn’t help but worry. Especially when it came to him fighting Laikios alone.

But it was also true that the other knights were in urgent need of assistance. She jumped off Laikios’ body and landed on the back of one of the Lamia. It fell to the ground as she stepped on her and broke her spine. Then she directed her next attack to the Lamia in front of her.

‘Ill deal with this as quickly as possible and return to his side.’

Her hand holding the sword began to swing faster.

While Elaine wiped out the Lamia, Ash continued his search for the core. Purple mana cut into its torso several times, but the core was still nowhere to be found.

Then, a little above the nape of the neck, Ash sliced off a large portion of flesh.

Embedded deep in the creature, a blue sphere caught his eye.
