LASR Chapter 52

Galloping Through The Martial World

Wei Shu followed Song Que’s instructions and indeed found some clues. When the owner of the manor, Yue Ping heard the name Bai Qin, his expression changed. His face clouded with worry, and he sighed repeatedly. However, when Wei Shu attempted to ask further questions, Yue Ping stopped talking again, and it was clear that the hint stopped there.

Wei Shu didn’t know what else to do, so she sent a message to Song Que. Song Que’s reply came late, asking Wei Shu to find a way to bring Yue Qing to the arena tomorrow. When Wei Shu wanted to ask him what else he would do, she found that this damned person had logged off. After racking her brains, Wei Shu finally came up with a devious trick.

The game “Jianghu Strategy” was very close to reality. Since Song Que could perform surgery on NPCs, then others with real skills in reality could find ways to bring their expertise into the game. So, Song Que found a craftsman to make a wheelchair. The next day, after logging in, he retrieved the wheelchair from the mailbox and took Pei Yunshan to the Yuelun Manor

Song Que retrieved the wheelchair right in front of Pei Yunshan. The object appeared out of thin air, but Pei Yunshan acted as if he didn’t notice it. Song Que let out a sigh. The intelligent NPCs in “Jianghu Strategy” often made him feel that he was facing a person with independent thought. But each time this happened, he was reminded that what he was actually facing was just a string of data. The feeling caught between the unreal and the real, was unsettling.

Song Que put Pei Yunshan in a position where he was not easily bumped. He spent a large sum of money to swap places with someone who was originally at the front, hoping to challenge in the arena. When Song Que first jumped up, no one really paid him much attention. After all, his equipment didn’t look like he had come prepared, and at most they thought he was just trying his luck.

Song Que exchanged a few moves with some players and found them not too difficult to deal with. The players’ strength and speed were all built up from data, with only absolute values. They could not fully exert their potential in the midst of movement. As for the various dazzling skills, being caught in the process of using the skills would naturally result in a significant amount of damage, but catching Song Que was simply too difficult.

Although Song Que was startled by many unfamiliar, seemingly physics-defying moves, his agility was enough to help him to dodge in various positions. The only episode came when he nearly got tripped up by the game system’s flexibility settings, but Song Que also had those unscientific skills, which were enough to make up for the disadvantages brought by his poor ligament flexibility. After quickly adapting to using them, Song Que never made a fool of himself again.

Song Que’s outfit was very simple, but it looked quite good on him. Previously, some male players had mocked him, saying he wore it just to look good and was being flashy, thinking he’d only go up for a bit and then come down quickly.

But now, everyone just hoped that someone could land a hit on him first…

After Song Que defeated five players, someone suddenly shouted, “Que Zhi! It’s that Que Zhi!”

“Fuck! The guy who jumped off the cliff with 100% pain sensitivity?!”

“It’s that terrible person…”

Song Que stood there with two swords in hand, the way no one could beat him was so cool. His skills were graceful and elegant, and somewhat different from the usual techniques of the Wuqiu Manor.

Half of the male players in the crowd wanted to be him, to show off and flirt with the girls, while the other half wanted to defeat him so they could show off and flirt with the girls.

Song Que finally waited until Wei Shu had tricked Yue Qing into coming out.

Since they were coming to the arena, the people guarding Yue Qing did not stop them. Instead, they followed them here.

As soon as Yue Qing came out, she realized she had been tricked. When she turned around to leave, her attention was drawn to Song Que on the stage. Wei Shu followed her gaze and felt extremely upset. What was up with Song Que? Could he even attract NPCs?

Just as Song Que defeated his opponent. Yue Qing walked towards the defending side and said to some disciples who were preparing to go up: “I’ll go.”

The people in the crowd looked at Song Que with envy and jealousy. Could it be that the trigger mechanism was winning a certain number of matches in a row?

As soon as Yue Qing came on stage, Song Que withdrew his hands and said, “Miss Yue, I am not here to challenge, I’m here to fight on someone else’s behalf.”

Yue Qing’s eyes lit up and she asked, “Why doesn’t he come himself?”

Song Que said, “He went to seek revenge, but his legs were broken. He’s just recovering from a serious illness and still can’t walk, so he taught me his skills and asked me to fight this match for him.”

Yue Qing’s face instantly turned pale. She stepped forward, grabbed Song Que and said, “What did you say? Where is he? Take me to him now!”

Just as Song Que was about to speak, he heard a middle-aged man snort coldly: “Brat, Where do you think you’re taking my daughter?”

Song Que looked up and saw that the person who had arrived was none other than Yuelun Manor’s owner, Yue Ping. His face was filled with anger. He leapt onto the stage, clearly intent on challenging Song Que to a fight.

Yue Ping said: “If you want to marry my daughter, you’ll have to get through me first.”

Song Que pondered for a moment and then said, “Senior, I am seeking marriage on behalf of someone else. The skills I’m using also come from this person. If I win, will you stop interfering?”

Yue Ping sneered and said, “Little brat, you’re quite bold. You have to win against me first!”

Song Que whispered to Yue Qing, “Miss Yue, Brother Pei is just below the stage. Go find him quickly. His legs are injured, and I’m worried something might happen to him.”

Yue Qing glanced at the furious Yue Ping and was a little worried about Song Que. However, since Song Que insisted that she go first, she gritted her teeth and turned to leave.

Wei Shu shouted, “Are you crazy? That’s our manor owner!”

The player who had just been defeated by Song Que was gloating, waiting for Song Que to turn into white light. How strong could the manor owner be? There had once been some bored people who brought a twenty-person team to harass the manor owner, but they were all wiped out in less than half a minute. A boss-level figure like this, especially in a berserk state. They didn’t believe that Song Que could win!

Song Que couldn’t fight. He wasn’t naive enough to think he could defeat the system’s judgment. While other players improved their physical attributes in the game, his in-game body was a handicap. The strength of his skills was determined by the system, and he couldn’t change that. Song Que’s way of persevering was to dodge. Dodging directly when possible, using skills to dodge when not. In short, he aimed to minimize the cost while maximizing the benefit. Whenever he had the time, he’d take the opportunity to strike Yueping with a sword.

This level of attack was nothing to Yue Ping, but at the same time, Yue Ping’s strike did not even touch Song Que. Although some of the lingering effects from Yueping’s skills caused a significant drop in Song Que’s health, he could always use medicine to recover.

Song Que was struggling to hold his ground against Yue Ping on the stage, while the crowd below had already dispersed. Some of the spectators, who had been eagerly watching just moments ago, were caught in Yue Ping’s attacks and turned into white light. The others, having learned their lesson, quickly ran far away, not daring to approach.

Song Que was starting  to have a hard time persisting. Even using medicine had a cooldown, and while NPCs didn’t experience mental fatigue, he did.

Song Que gritted his teeth, thinking to himself, “Just a little longer, just a little longer,” constantly using self-affirmation to deceive himself.

The secret book that Bai Qin gave him did not contain any mental techniques, only martial arts moves. Song Que took a quick look and saw that many of the moves were quite inhumane. If he didn’t use any skills, it would  be nearly impossible to execute them with his current in-game body.

But at this moment, Song Que decided to use it to test the opponent in front of him whom he could not defeat.

Song Que let his energy flow outwards and executed the move ‘Wild Goose Falls from the Sky’. Yue Ping’s movement slowed down for a moment—successful!

While recalling the moves described in the book, Song Que used his body’s reflexes to the limit and his existing skills to perform the corresponding moves.

Yue Ping’s movements were getting slower and slower, nearing the range that Song Que could normally counter. He wanted to see through Song Que’s moves!

Song Que cooperated fully, executing every move he could. Yue Ping seemed to have finally caught on. He lowered his sword and asked, “Where did you learn this from?”

Song Que did not take advantage of the situation. He also sheathed his sword and said, “Senior, I believe you know him, it was taught by my shishu, Bai Qin.”

Yue Ping looked at him up and down and said, “You’re barely in your twenties. You were just a kid sixteen years ago. How could Sister Qin teach you these skills?”

Song Que said: “Senior, you have misunderstood. This technique was only just passed to me. I only have the moves but no mental techniques.”

Yue Ping was taken aback by his words and exclaimed, “You mean, Sister Qin is still alive?”

Song Que quickly realized what Yue Ping meant. Not many people knew about the agreement between Bai Qin and Yuan Qing, and Yuan Qing disappearance. Bai Qin kept her promise and stayed at the valley, refusing to leave. In the eyes of others, she had already met with an accident.

“May I ask what is the relationship between the senior and my shishu?”

Yue Ping sighed and said, “I am your shishu‘s sworn brother.”

He was about to say something else when Yue Qing pushed Pei Yunshan in. As soon as Yue Ping saw Pei Yunshan, his face darkened, and he was about to draw his sword, but Yue Qing suddenly knelt down.

Song Que stepped back a few steps to give space to the three of them, and waved to Wei Shu who was hiding in the distance, signaling her to come over and watch the drama.

Wei Shu came over happily.

Yue Qing said, “Father, I’m not Aunt Bai Qin, and Yunshan is not the heartless Xiao Lingfeng. You can’t assume that Yunshan is the same as Xiao Lingfeng just because Xiao Lingfeng is a cold-hearted and unfaithful person. Yunshan doesn’t need to steal the martial arts secret of Yuelun Manor. He is very talented and has created his own martial arts. Given time, he can kill his enemies with his own hands. If it weren’t for your eagerness to marry me off, he wouldn’t have been so anxious to take revenge and seek your approval, which ended up injuring his legs. He is sincere, and I hope you can look at him without prejudice.”

Yue Ping looked at the two of them for a long time without saying a word.

Song Que coughed lightly, supporting Yue Qing’s statement, and said, “When I first met Brother Pei, his injuries were severe. If no one helped him, he probably would not live long. At the beginning, I used the material arts that Brother Pei taught me. I have only practiced it for a short time, and facing a senior like you, I was almost powerless to fight back. But if it weren’t for this martial art, I would have already died under your sword. The skill is incredibly profound. If I had another three to five years to practice diligently, I might be able to stand a chance against you..”

He spoke these words without arrogance, but the youthful vigor was evident.

In Yue Ping’s eyes, Song Que was both a disciple of an old acquaintance and a young talent. He was more pleasing to the eye than Pei Yunshan, who had captured his daughter’s heart. He could only mutter, “I think the disciple of Wuqiu Manor is also quite good. Why do you have to get involved with this brat?”

Yue Qing stamped her feet, called out “Father”, and said, “Stop joking around. The young hero’s sweetheart is standing right next to him.”

Everyone turned to look at Wei Shu, who gave an awkward but polite smile. Experiencing the pain of a straight man being forced into a gay situation.

Pei Yunshan’s sincerity was evident, yet Yue Qing kept hesitating. Yue Ping couldn’t stand it anymore and asked Pei Yunshan: “Your martial art is not bad, what is it called?”

Pei Yunshan lowered his head in embarrassment, looking like a shy girl. Only after Yue Ping’s impatient urging did he say: “Moon Rising Clouds Gathering.”

Yue Qing blushed from her face to her neck after hearing this, and Yue Ping wanted to beat this stinky brat again.

Yue Ping finally agreed to the marriage. The large arena was dismantled, and the wedding system that the players had speculated about did not make an appearance. However, there was one more pair of lovers with mutual affection in the jianghu.

As for Song Que and Wei Shu, they also got what they wanted.
