My Lover Isn’t Interested With The Female lead!
✽ CHAPTER 27✽

“That male student happens to be a very famous person. There were quite a few people who saw him. So, there were students who testified about the two female students who had a conversation with him.”
“Was there such testimony?”
“Yes. Here are the statements. To prepare for the risk of loss, I obtained a few extra copies.”
Emphasizing the phrase ‘a few extra copies,’ Lenard handed over a bundle of documents to the professor.
They couldn’t figure out who that administrative student was, as they didn’t mention the name here.
“But what does that have to do with the current issue?”
Impatient Achilles glared sharply at Lenard, but it was Dolores who responded, not Lenard.
“Spreading rumors about Letticia in the north cafeteria and tarnishing her reputation by spreading it to students from other departments… those two there, Lady Hilmarin and Lady Erskin.”
Dolores’s observation changed the atmosphere in the room.
Including the principal, the faculty looked astonished at Sophia and Josephine, while the aristocrats frowned, reflecting on what they had just heard.
“…Those two, you mean?”
“No way!”
The two who were confident until now yelled hysterically when their names were mentioned.
“Don’t lie! You’re just making up excuses to blame us, aren’t you?”
“It’s not a lie. If you read the notes I submitted, you’ll see the situation at the time. On the day of the incident, my friends and I were having a meal at the north cafeteria, and we witnessed those two spreading negative rumors about Letticia.”
Despite the hysteria of the two, Dolores remained calm as the principal read through the notes.
After scanning the notes, the principal frowned as he looked up at Dolores and asked,
“Is this content really true?”
“Yes, it is. It’s all accurately written.”
“There’s a possibility that a student fabricated this.”
“If you compare it with the testimony submitted by Lady Sharon, you can verify the truth. I’m not boasting, but I’m confident in my note-taking skills.”
As Dolores confidently spoke, the principal checked the testimony submitted by Lenard, then his face turned pale. It seemed like he had seen something he shouldn’t have.
“Um, student Erskin. This is…!”
The principal started sweating coldly now. Lenard stepped in as he struggled to continue speaking.
“I won’t mention the name of the male student mentioned in both the testimony and the notes here. But isn’t it proven now? Those two harbor ill intentions towards my sister, hence the credibility of their testimony is questionable.”
Letticia seemed on the verge of laughter as she realized why Lenard had revealed this now.
So, blocking testimonies based on emotions leads to this embarrassing situation. There’s really no substitute for proper education.
However, neither Josephine nor Sophia readily accepted that statement. They knew that admitting to it would also mean their downfall.
“Well, aren’t you thinking too much about that? Even though we don’t get along with Lady Sharon, we won’t commit perjury.”
“You claim you didn’t commit perjury? After spreading such baseless rumors?”
Letticia couldn’t hold back anymore and let out a laugh. After hearing endless nonsense, it had become absurd and even boring.
“Why don’t you just be honest? You wanted to be friends with Lady Averil, but you was jealous because she wanted to join my gathering.”
“Who would be jealous of someone like you, from such a vulgar and lowly lineage?”
Whether it was desperation or genuine feelings surfacing due to the crisis, the impact of those words was immense.
The principal and the staff froze in place, Camilla’s smile vanished, and even Patrick, who was usually the most composed, turned his head away entirely. It was his habit when he decided not to treat someone as human.
As for the Duke of Averil, he seemed to be thinking about how to get rid of the now useless and this unpleasant leech.
“…Now you understand why I couldn’t just overlook their words.”
Letticia broke the silence, seizing control. The principal nodded, as if understanding.
The only ones who didn’t understand were Sophia and Josephine.
“Why, why are you doing this, Principal?”
“We’re well aware that both of you often verbally abuse student Sharon.”
“Abuse? She’s the one who insulted us!”
“No, just now you openly insulted me in front of all these people. And in front of Lady Averil too, you belittled our gathering by saying that even if commoners gather, it’s useless, so are you think that not an insult for but a new style of praise?”
The last statement was filled with anger towards the nonsense that had been spewed until now.
In truth, Letticia’s patience wasn’t that good. What she had endured so far was already an incredible amount.
“Bu, but I was just stating the facts. What use is it for nouveau riche like you to learn when you can’t even compare to true nobility like us?”
“At least it seemed like you two couldn’t compete with me. If you were superior to me, why would Lady Averil want to spend time with me instead of you two?”
When she spoke provocatively on purpose, Sophia screamed, forgetting the adults around her.
“Don’t act all high and mighty just because you’ve flaunted your shallow knowledge a few times! I’ve been tolerating your pretense of being true nobility even though your bloodline is mixed, but you should know your place and quietly stay in the corner of the classroom where you belong!”
“Well, it’s because you came at me without even knowing what you were talking about in the first place! You should be thankful you’re not being punished for daring to speak arrogantly to nobility. Instead, you act as if you’re equal to us just because you believe in your half-baked noble bloodline!”
Josephine added fuel to the fire by chiming in.
Seeing their foolishness, Dayna and Dolores exchanged almost incredulous looks.
“…Was it Baron Hilmarin and Viscount Kairon? I guess we’ll have to contact them separately.”
Patrick sentenced the oblivious pair to death with an icy tone. Even the duke agreed with his words.
“It seems like both of those families have failed in raising their children properly.”
“Wha- Uh, well-”
Realizing that things were not going as they had anticipated, the two were at a loss for words, but the principal simply gestured for them to leave.
As they were half-dragged out by the professors, Dayna bowed her head and spoke.
“We apologize for not testifying against those two earlier. But Letticia couldn’t bear the humiliation she suffered, so we thought it necessary to show their behavior directly in front of the adults.”
“In fact, Letticia was standing up against those who were insulting us on our behalf. That’s probably why this rumor spread so widely. So please, understand Letticia’s situation and fairly uncover the truth.”
Even Dolores joined in, bowing her head, but the principal remained silent, his expression grave.
Sensing that the tide had turned in her favor, Letticia struggled to contain a smug smile.
After Dayna and Dolores left, the principal sighed deeply.
“…Indeed, it’s true that what student Sharon endured was unjust humiliation and harassment. Even though times have changed, it seems noble families still teach their children in such a manner…”
“It’s not particularly surprising. Even back when I was attending the academy, other students used to call us parvenus.”
Patrick’s mention of ‘parvenus’ made the atmosphere in the room even darker. Even the aristocrats themselves grimaced.
‘Parvenus’ is the most offensive term for nouveau riche families. It implies they are ‘fake nobles’ who mistakenly believe they can buy the honor that cannot be bought with money.
Originally, noble honor was based on lineage, history, and title. Even if one didn’t have money, as long as they had a noble lineage, history, and title, they would be respected enough by pre-modern nobles.
Occasionally, knights who distinguished themselves in war would receive new titles, but they were still treated with honor for fighting for the country.
However, as times changed and newly wealthy families gained titles, there was a growing fear that honor could also be bought with money.
Indeed, with ancient and prestigious families who failed to adapt to the times falling into ruin and selling their honor and lineage to nouveau riche families, the fear of baseless anxiety was not unfounded.
The uneasy old nobility, in order to maintain their privilege and superiority, refused to acknowledge newly rich families who obtained their titles through wealth as ‘parvenus,’ and even referred to their mixed-blood offspring as ‘mongrels,’ refusing to recognize them as nobility.
Naturally, the new noble and their descendants who inherited their bloodline rebelled against such derogatory terms, and when duels were even fought, escalating into a social issue, the Imperial decree was issued. Eventually, the Supreme Court ruled that referring to someone as a ‘parvenus’ or ‘mongrel’ constituted defamation.
Nowadays, while the expression has been replaced with terms like ‘nouveau riche’ and others, some conservative old nobility still use it clandestinely, and there are few who are unaware of it.
“As you can see, duke, my daughter has been under attack by such people. And those two just claimed earlier that Lady Averil took my daughter forcibly. Even that alone showed they were distorting the truth. Can the duke trust the testimony of such individuals?”
Patrick straightforwardly questioned the duke. He was essentially asking, ‘do you believe those two, who are clearly trying to malign Letticia?’
While those two didn’t admit to spreading rumors themselves, their blatant disrespect towards Letticia, as evidenced by their use of derogatory language, severely undermined their credibility.
‘They shouldn’t have said ‘half-baked noble bloodline’ at least.’
Attacking Letticia’s lineage was akin to attacking the deceased duchess.
I don’t know if they didn’t even think about that, or if they believed that different standards applied to that part.
Nevertheless, the duke seemed somewhat less hostile than before. He appeared to have resolved not to believe in inflated rumors.
“…Those two may have really spread the rumor, so let’s not get into that now.”
“Father!”
When Achilles protested, the duke shook his head.
“I’m not forgiving lady Sharon for making Arie cry. I’m just acknowledging that those rumors might be false.”
“No, is that all? After all this time, that’s the conclusion we’ve reached?”
Letticia couldn’t accept it.
To endure such nonsense and insults only to end up with a half-baked understanding? It just didn’t add up.
“We just learned from the testimony that the two witnesses were hostile to Lady Sharon. But that doesn’t prove that the lady is innocent.”

I agree with her, after all that happened to not have her name cleaned and receiving an apology? Unthinkable.
