I'm Trying to End This Possession

This was unfair. Everyone treated me like a fool. No matter how much people treated me, I just endured it, so now they think I’m a pushover?

I can’t stand this anymore. I didn’t want to live as a fool anymore. I was also sick of enduring such needless hardship in the monastery!

Fortunately, that afternoon, Miona came to the monastery.

“Miona, I feel so wronged.” I sobbed and cried in Miona’s embrace. “The incident at the Windsor territory. It wasn’t my fault. Sister Dana has pinned it all on me…”

“Of course she did! Aah, poor Allice.”

Miona approached with a sympathetic look and hugged me. In the arms of my maid, I whined for comfort.

“I’m so scared of Sister Dana…”

And then there’s the Raios too. Why did he allow me to go to the monastery?  Even though I said I missed him terribly, and he had rescued me from the monastery before. Why has he changed his mind and sent me back?

There’s only one incident that happened in between! It’s clear. Ever since the day Sister Dana and him have gone horseback riding to the hunting grounds, things have been strange.

Thinking back to that day made me anxious again, and I burst into tears.

What happened in that deep forest with Sister Dana? What could have happened that her scent was so deeply ingrained in him? How could sister shake someone else’s man like that?

I hate it. I truly hate it. I can’t keep putting up with this forever.  It became clear that I couldn’t stay like this any longer.

“Miona.”

Thus, I was able to say without hesitation what I had been thinking all along.

“Could you pretend to be me and stay at the monastery?”

“…What?”

“Pretend to be me and live in the monastery for me, please? I just can’t take it anymore.”

Was it an unexpected request? Miona, who had been looking at me with pity, froze.

“B-But Allice, that’s a bit…”

Is that a rejection?

At that moment, I felt resentful towards Miona.

She couldn’t even fulfill such a simple request? Even as a friend? No- as my maid? Moreover, if it weren’t for me, she would have been out on the streets as a beggar. How dare she not understand this favor and can’t even grant this small request?

“Allice, but. The priests will notice.”

“They change the priest in charge of me every day anyway… Plus, we can prepare a wig or dye your hair or something.”

“S-Still…”

“What if Sister Dana takes His Highness away while I’m gone? Sob, Miona, please help me…” I burst into tears.

Given the situation, Miona had no choice but to say this. “A-Alright. I’ll pretend to be you.”

“Thank you, Miona!”

“But, in return, can you do me one favor?”

Huh?”

“…His, one of his clothes…”

Huh?”

“Lo-Lord Carl’s clothes… bring me any. Preferably one with his scent. Underwear would be even better. Okay?”

I felt a chill run down my spine. She must be crazy. Could she possibly have a crush on dad?

It wasn’t too surprising. Since I was young, I had seen many women of her age like dad, sending him love letters or following him around. But Miona too?

That’s creepy. Why ask for dad’s underwear?

No matter how young and handsome dad may be, how could she make such a request?  It felt perverse. Disgusting. Revolting. She must be insane. But…

If I just bring her that, I can leave the monastery, right?  I pondered for a moment but soon decided.

Yeah. What’s the big deal about bringing one piece of clothing? Dad has plenty of clothes anyway! Moreover, Miona’s love could never come to fruition. If giving her a piece of clothing could provide some solace, then it wasn’t too bad. By comforting Miona’s unrequited love, I would be doing a kind and compassionate deed, wouldn’t I?

“Okay. I’ll do it.”

Kyaa! Thank you, Allice!”

Doing a good deed for a friend that’s what true friendship is all about!

Dana’s POV

The next day, Viego Windsor returned from his business trip. After his return, Ignis Windsor brazenly barged into the first vassal meeting.

“I didn’t realize the standards of the Windsor family had fallen so low.” He casually took a seat and propped his feet up on the table, crunching an apple and laughing derogatorily.

“I heard rumors that Danae Windsor was attending the vassal meetings, but I never imagined it was true. Regardless of being a direct descendant, isn’t it inappropriate for a woman to enter the meeting room?”

Such a lowly, rogue-like attitude.

I responded calmly, “I’m not here as a direct descendant. I’m attending this meeting as a member of the meeting.”

Then, Viscount Manus quickly interjected, “That’s correct. Lady Danae has even been granted a separate office by the patriarch, Lord Ignis.”

Ignis’s eyebrows furrowed at that.

Viscount Manus began a fervent speech, “To speak of lady’s recent achievements, she developed a compensation plan for the Moonlight Flower market crash, ensuring the Windsor family’s credibility, managed to have the Windsor cheques accepted again by the Liten Bank within two days after being initially rejected, dealt with the traitors in the Windsor territory, quickly identified and addressed a rotten land preventing a larger disaster, thereby elevating the Windsor family’s stature among the territory’s residents—”

“Quiet, Viscount Manus. I’m not interested in your tales.” Ignis rudely cut him off with a snicker. “To my ears, it sounds like you are incompetent. How incompetent must you be to let a woman handle such matters?”

Viscount Manus’s lips trembled. He seemed to be restraining himself from lashing out at Ignis, who had left the family in disgrace, for making such comments.

“The patriarch is entering!”

Viego Windsor entered the meeting room at that moment. Despite the late hour, he appeared impeccably dressed, as if he had been working tirelessly.  As he took his seat at the head of the table,

“Patriarch, may I propose something before we start the meeting?” Ignis immediately raised his hand. “I have a matter I would like to discuss among the vassals.”

Crazy man. The honest impression of all vassals was that he was a crazy man, a lunatic, a nutcase, and so on. But no one was surprised.  It was a foreseen disturbance since the news of Ignis Windsor, the family’s troublemaker, returning.

“Take them down.”

At that moment, Viego quietly instructed without raising an eyebrow.

“Take your feet off the table.”
